About Alex
Born into a family of tattoo royalty, so to speak, I'm the grandson of Good Time Charlie Cartwright, known the world over for his contribution to pioneering the fineline black and grey style, son of Nick Cartwright, who owned one of the premier shops is Los Angeles' southbay for over a decade, Jokers Wild. I'm a 3rd generation professional tattoo artist of just over 20 yrs. Of experience, working for 17 yrs straight at The End Of the Trail Tattoo studio in Modesto Ca. Once that shit down after 33 yrs of operation, I went solo for a few years, then worked at Red Dragon tattoo in Modesto for a yr., and now my grandfather and I opened up our own shop, just the two of us, where I'm the premier and only artist. While he is available for his souvenir tattoos, I am the only full time working artist. I'm fluent in all styles, from portraits, and realism, fineline, and traditional, both American and Japanese, tribal and graphic, and everything in-between. If you don't see something represented in my portfolio of which you seek, just ask, I'm sure I have examples I can show you! Growing up in this industry, literally, I've had the pleasure of not only knowing, but working alongside some of the biggest and best names in the industry. I've learned as much as I could with each individual, and hope to carry that knowledge onward into my own personal style and flavor. One of my favorite types of tattoos are cover-ups, always bringing a new challenge, and not allowing for the same old same old cookie cutter carbon copies of anything. Makes you think outside the box, which is where I thrive! Accomplished, knowledgeable, friendly, and a bit off the beaten path, I'll find a way to create something amazing with you! Punk rocker at heart, and proud of it. Men and women of all ages (well, any age over 18 of course) and weirdos are welcome! Your idea, my art, OUR creation!!
