I’m Justin Darkness, a tattoo artist working out of a private studio in Austin, Texas. My work focuses on black and grey illustrative tattooing, drawing from vintage animation, surrealism, melancholic portraiture, and graphic storytelling. I’m known for expressive faces, bold contrast, and deliberate linework. Every tattoo is custom and hand drawn with an emphasis on flow, composition, and clarity, while keeping longevity and aging in mind. I work by appointment only in a quiet, private setting, offering a focused experience for clients who value intentional design and long lasting work.

Policies

Deposit Policy

All deposits are nonrefundable and are applied towards the final cost of the tattoo, at the final session. Rescheduling/canceling an appointment with less than 72 hours notice before appointment may result in forfeited deposit, and any more than one reschedule may result in forfeited deposit.

Rescheduling Policy

If you need to reschedule an appointment, I kindly ask for at least 72 hours notice. Each appointment includes one complimentary reschedule with proper notice. Any additional reschedules may require a new deposit. Reschedule requests with less than 72 hours notice may result in a forfeited deposit. Thank you so much for respecting my time and small business, I truly appreciate you. 

Touch-Up Policy

Touch-ups are free within 1 year of your tattoo’s completion date, and afterwards will be charged a discounted hourly rate depending on the situation/time frame. Touch ups may not be free/discounted if aftercare instructions were not followed, or if the tattoo was exposed to excessive sun or trauma during healing, or if significant changes/additions/redesigns are requested.

Holiday Appointment Policy

Appointments booked in November or December will have a no reschedule policy. This means if your appointment is booked in November/December and you reschedule, your deposit will be voided and you will need to re-deposit to rebook.

How do I book an appointment?

Custom requests can be booked by selecting the book now button at the bottom of my profile here on co-create, and giving some info about your desired project! submit your request and I will get back to you as soon as possible to schedule a consultation call and go over next steps. My wanna-do designs can be browsed and booked in my wanna-do section here on co-create as well! Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have questions about a design.

What subjects/styles do I *NOT* tattoo?

I do not accept bookings for: -watercolor -realism -lettering/script -exact copy designs that would not require drawing on my part

When will I get to see my tattoo design?

Your design will be shown to you at your appointment, at which time adjustments can be made if necessary.

What should I bring/wear to my appointment?

Please bring yourself **well fed and rested**, your valid ID, water and snacks for breaks, a pillow/blanket if you wish, and wear something comfortable and easy to move out of the way if necessary. Pro tip: black clothes are ideal.

What types of payment are accepted?

Cash, Venmo, and credit card are acceptable, and co-create also supports Afterpay & Affirm. E-payments will have a 3% processing fee added to the balance.

Can I bring a friend?

You may bring one emotional support human, just be aware space is limited, and please give me a heads up.
