FAQ

How much will this tattoo cost?
I give estimates on tattoos, however I do need some information first. I need to know 1. size in approximate inches 2. where on your body it will go 3. will it be black and grey or color. All estimates are approximate and I usually give a ballpark cost. Sometimes if you change the size placement or design I do charge more.
How should I prepare for my tattoo appointment?
Get plenty of rest, drink lots of water so your skin is very hydrated, eat a good meal first, bring snacks or friends to get them for you and wear clothing that can be removed or pulled easily aside so I can access the area you want your tattoo placed. Zip up hoodies work great for backs, you can just turn it around. Loose shorts are great for legs.
How can I pay?
I give cash discounts. You can, however pay by Venmo, PayPal or Stipe through the site.
How do I take care of my fresh tattoo?
Avoid getting into high bacterial situations. This includes soaking in rivers, lakes, the ocean, hot-tubs, or bathtubs. Quick showers are your friend. You want it to dry out the first couple days. Avoid sitting in the sand or touching it on hum equipment. It’s ok to work out, but cover it up with loose fitting clothing. I recommend washing your tattoo daily for the first 3-4 days with mild soap or anti-bacterial soap. Avoid harsh ointments like antibiotic ointment or anything thick.
What’s the best ointment to use?
I like coconut oil. There are many tattoo specific ointments on the market if you prefer. Don’t start using ointment immediately, let the tattoo dry out for 48 hours at least. Use only a tiny amount of ointment. If you put too much on, wipe some off with a clean paper towel or rub it around on your skin to spread it around. The tattoo should not look shiny or greasy.
When can I get back in the water?
When the flaking or scabbing has stopped. This usually takes between 5 and 10 days. Flaking and scabbing are normal responses for your skin to heal. Let it do it’s thing. For more saturated tattoos, big color work or dense black it can take up to 2 weeks. After that your skin has repaired the top layer and will look "shiny" while the inside layers heal.
How should I show up for my tattoo consultation?
Bring a few photos of examples you like, 3 is usually good and be prepared to tell me what you like about each photo. I can combine or modify anything you bring me. Bring your questions or concerns, I want you to leave feeling informed.
Do you do coverups/ fixups?
Yes! I specialize in coverup tattoos and I love fixing old or unclear tattoos. I am happy to give you my opinion on how you can go about covering up your tattoo and will be happy to work on them with you. Be prepared to go up to 3x the original size to cover it up and it is important to keep an open mind to what is possible. If you don’t fully understand how a coverup works I am happy to show you how it happens. Don’t be afraid to ask!
What if my tattoo looks infected?
Tattoos need to be washed daily. If you’re not doing that, start doing it at the first sign of irritation. It can help the infection from progressing. Monitor your tattoo closely while it is healing and do your best to only touch it with clean hands. Don’t allow other people to touch a healing tattoo, people don’t wash their hands that much. Don’t let your pets touch it. Avoid soaps and lotions with fragrances, this can cause product reactions that look like zits. If that happens switch product.
