FAQ
- How can I consult with you about a tattoo/appointment?
- If you’d like to set up a consultation, please text me at 856-553-3732 so we can plan a time to meet. The best way to consult with me about your tattoo is in person. You’re welcome to text me anytime with any questions; however, meeting and being able to discuss your ideas face-to-face helps to get your ideas across and gives me the best possible vision of what you’re looking for.
- Do you require a deposit to schedule an appointment?
- All clients must pay a booking fee (commonly referred to as a deposit) to schedule an appointment with me. The fee depends on the length of the tattoo session, but typically ranges from $60 to $200. This is not an additional charge to the tattoo service; it is a retainer, or a prepayment toward the final cost (or final session cost) of your tattoo. The booking fee serves as a way to secure appointments and ensure a commitment from my clients. It is common practice in the industry.
- What are your rates/how do you price tattoos?
- Generally, I price tattoos according to my $150/hour rate, sometimes pricing flash or smaller pieces at a fixed amount. Factors including the intricacy of the design, the size of the tattoo, and its placement on the body determine the amount of time the tattoo should take me to complete, and that time is reflected in the price. I typically collect payment at the end of your session, or at the end of each session for large-scale work that requires multiple sittings.
- What is the average wait time for an appointment?
- Currently I am booking month to month to keep wait times down, so generally you'll be able to book as soon as the same week, with a maximum wait time of three weeks.
- What are my payment options for the tattoo session?
- Sinful Art accepts only cash for payment on the balance of your tattoo session. I also accept electronic payments through multiple services, such as Venmo, Cashapp, Paypal, Zelle, Apple Pay, etc. Any service not listed here- just ask! Cash and electronic payments directly to me will not include any taxes or processing fees.
- What tattoo styles do you prefer or specialize in?
- Over the years, I have become proficient in a vast range of styles, so I do not promote myself as "specializing" in any particular style. That said, clients tend to seek me out for my linework (fine line/minimalism, handwriting replication, custom lettering/script), as well as my floral work (black & grey realism, fine/neotraditional styles). While I enjoy working with just about any style, I LOVE working with custom pieces that I can draw right on your skin!
- Can I use my own or someone else's design for my tattoo?
- Most of the tattoos I do are ideas brought to me by the client, and I understand that most inspiration comes from existing tattoos as well as other artists' designs found on the internet. I always recommend using reference photos to help convey design concepts as well as tattoo styles. While I will never directly copy someone else's work, I will draw my own version of it and make any adjustments needed to ensure the design is custom to each client and works well with each client's preferences.
- Do you tattoo minors?
- Sinful Art has a no-minors policy. Anyone getting tattooed must be 18+ years of age with a valid ID.
- Is getting a tattoo painful?
- Tattooing involves some level of discomfort, as it involves needles penetrating the skin. Pain tolerance varies among individuals, but most people describe it as a manageable level of discomfort.
- What is your policy regarding numbing creams?
- I do NOT offer numbing cream at the shop, and I don't recommend using it. In my experience, more often than not, it seems to affect the tattooing process in a negative way. Some ingredients found in numbing creams can raise your heart rate and blood pressure, and change the texture of the skin by constricting the blood vessels in the area, making it feel rougher and resist the injection of the ink. Worst of all, once the numbing agent wears off, the pain can be excruciating. Use at your own risk
- How long does it take for a tattoo to heal?
- The initial healing process typically takes 2-4 weeks, depending on the health of the client, and the method(s) of aftercare being used. During this time, it's important to follow the aftercare instructions you'll be provided with to ensure proper healing.
- Do you provide healing/aftercare instructions?
- Yes. At the end of each appointment, I provide detailed aftercare instructions to ensure proper healing of your tattoo. Additionally, clients are encouraged to reach out to me directly with any questions or concerns they may have regarding the healing process before and after the appointment.
- Can I get a tattoo if I have certain medical conditions?
- It's important to consult with your doctor if you have any medical conditions or concerns before getting a tattoo. Some conditions or medications may affect the healing process, so it's best to seek professional advice.
