About Maria
My name is Maria Alvarez, a tattoo artist pursing my artistic path in New York City. Born in Spain, a land of great art masters, I found my home in the city that never sleeps. My roots have been a big influence to me in my appreciation for all the art crafting. My design journey began navigating between intuition and discovery. From fine-line to realism, I've explored the landscapes of ink, always seeking something unique. In the blending of concept art, and microrealism, I found my voice: creating art that goes beyond simple visuals. My clients bring their dreams and I translate them into a visual language. The blank page is an open field, a playground for imagination. It's more than a job; an intimate connection. When I see my art on someone's skin, it's a bond, a shared piece of who we are.

FAQ
- Do you work only on full day sessions?
- The answer is no, but mainly. I like to work creating as much detail as I can , and treating the skin gently. So , always we will need a confirmation on my end, but we can say if the project is less than three inches and include one microrealistic element, I will need a half session instead of a full day one. On the other hand, if the tattoo includes lineal background, more than one elements, etc . I can tell is going to be at least, one day. Depends on the area and the space to be work on it , could be more. The best is send a request asking to determine, don't be afraid to ask.
- Do you charge by hour?
- No, I can't. I don't like to be in rush when im developing something that will be a memoru that you will have in your skin forever. I never know some details until the day of the appointment, and that's why based on all the experience that I have, I can determine and aproximate amount of time. But never I can know in advance the quality of the skin , the tolerance of the person ,if we need to the small food break, if we need to stretch, the exact size of the design ... So there are this important factors which are involve in the tattoo process that make imposible to charge by hour. I charge by half session or full session .
- How many session are required for a full arm ?
- I understand the arm as a body canvas. We can say - inner forearm ,wrist to elbow inside of the body: one day - outer foream : one day - Connections , for example under the elbow: one day -Elbow to shoulder : two days, is double size - Inner biceps: one day - Connections in the superior arm : one day - Finish touches : one day So the minimun for a quality arm is 8 days, but again depends on the amount of micrealistic elements, the healing process, the pain tolerance, and the previous design that we will discuss.
- Do you show the design in advance?
- I only show the design the day before.
- Do you make modifications to the design once its sent ?
- Usually we don't need to change the design . My design process is having a comprehensive understanding of the idea behind the tattoo so what I will come with should be an suitable design . To me communication is key ,so as much details, informations, references, etc, the customer can give in advance, the better the result will be. That being said, I can adapt a small part of the design, but asking for a new design will have an extra design fee and maybe we will need to change the date of the appointment because I spend hours doing all my designs and sometimes Im not able to develop a new design only the day before.
