About Oz
I first started tattooing myself with safety pins and marker ink when I was 11 years old, as a way of claiming bodily autonomy and productively channeling urges toward self harm under difficult circumstances. I later grew into my own as a musician and performance artist, then installation artist, metalworker and painter as my practice grew. As a natural tradesperson, I decided to take the discipline of tattoo seriously in 2019 as a means of exiting a lifelong relationship with sex work, and found a deep sense of spiritual attunement with the labor of tattooing that has kept me invested since. I have found a lot of joy and proficiency in creating abstract, black & textural work flowing with the body, as well as scar tissue recovery & cover up/adornment. Recently, I opened a multimedia gallery and tattoo space in downtown LA, Spearmaiden, to bring a more holistic and pursuit-of-self approach to our work as artists. TL;DR I'm a lil freak and I like bringing out the lil freak in you :) I offer sliding scale rates for BIPOC & Trans clients, sex workers, and offer free cover up / body reclamation tattoo work to people who have experienced trafficking <3
